Okay, a little more information based upon initial impressions. <snip>...

It looks like these books are pretty big, too. (I really don't like the new 160pg format, especialy when there is so much more that can be stuffed into some of the more recent books)

Can you give us a general understanding of the way teh adventure path is structured? I got the impression from the AEG site that it's not really linear, as much as it is event driven, or even player driven.

Who did the cartography? How do the maps compare to other products?

After reading your summaries, I'm really looking forward to receiving them.

Maybe, I should look at the AEG site, but is there an example map somewhere? I absoluetly love nice maps.

I didn't see any cool maps on ther AEG site, but I didn't look very hard. They have some web enhancement stuff though I think it's just NPC stuff.

Adventures are more event driven it seems, which means the GM will have to do some extra work, but they tie into the story that drives the CCG quite well from what I know of it.

They don't credit the cartographer in a separate line, although whomever is responsbile is likely listed with the interior art credits. The quality is quite good but not as good as what you would expect from someone like Wizards of the Coast (but still better than a lot of other companies).

This is a nice sampling, Gothmog -- thanks.

Elves are chaotic evil by nature. Hmm. I take it they aren't the aloof types anymore either. But by chaotic, you mean they are freedom loving or do you mean that they are anarchistic, crazed, demon-like, um, elves?

No problem, you're welcome. The elves still are clannish and insular, but they apparently abduct and sacrifice others to stave off the effects of the curse the race is under. So no, they are not freedom-loving- they are mean, selfish, vicious, nasty bastards. Interestingly, they do have strong taboos against killing other elves, and they use the remains of their sacrifices (bones mostly) to fashion weapons, armor, devices, and magical objects.

a release every 2-3 months would have made them more practical to buy.

Maybe, but if you're looking to get out of publishing d20 products, releasing all of the books at once makes a whole lot of sense. One run and then you're done.

I just hope it works for them. AEG's a great company, but their financial woes aren't exactly a great secret at the moment.

I suppose I did my part to help. :)

If they were getting out of the d20 business, I wish they'd provide us paying customers the PDF to use as well.
