Warmage Edge Question

Hi folks,
According to Complete Arcana warmages deal additional damage with spells dependent on their intelligence. That goes fine for spells like fireball or, lets say, fire shield. But then i saw two nice spells, that would perfectly fit to my image of the warmage: Whirling Blade and Blades of Fire, both level 2 warmage spells.

Whirling blade allows to hurl a melee slashing weapon to attack several foes on distance. Damage is dealt by the weapon, but the spell lets you use charisma modifier for attack and damage.
Blades of fire enchants a weapon to deal extra fire damage for a single round.

Since blades of fire may be cast as a swift action combined use of those two spells would be possible.

Now for the question: Does any of those spells, or even both, qualify for warmage edge bonus? (Though i'd have to admit, that at least whirling blade would be a problem, since damage is dealt by the weapon, not by the spell itself)

And if, how often would the bonus damage be applied? Only for the first attack or for all targets?

Thanks, Quez

As a DM who has a pair of warmages in the game, plus I have two games that I'm a player in, and have a warmage2/ranger4 and a warmage1/cleric4, I would actually have to say yes to Blades of Fire, but no to Whirling Blade. If for some reason it's determined that Whirling Blade does allow for the warmage edge to be added, the stacking rules would still apply, so you wouldn't get your warmage edge twice.
