Yup, its good.. an interesting premise with the Earth Solar system split amongst the factions as well as the addition of a new world via the rift that gave entry to the two alien species.

we've been running it in a very gritty firefly type way with the group made up of Earthers, Mavericks and a Gongen crwing a small independant ship and taking jobs to keep it running and improve thier lot. This worked out as an ideal way for allowing them to mix and involve themselves with all factions and also as a build up to the first adventure Incursion which we originally played through during playtesting. This adventure is also a good dramatic romp involving all factions and some of the WARs personalities such as Raving Red Jane and provide opportunities to make friends or enemies within the various factions based on your choices throughout..

I was a little put out the main book lets you play a human, a human, or... a human. 40% of the settings factions are off limits ?

Does the Battlefront book help with this?

the main book concentrates on the human factions Earthers, Gongen and Mavericks primarily it is true.. as they make up the vast majority of the games universe.

That said however if you want to play Shi or Quay you can, rules and details are included in the Battlefront book as well as information on how to allow such characters into groups of humans.. mostly via means of an ECL..
