Was this smooth?

Tinker Gnome

Adventurer
Well, my PCs, who are all eith level got assigned to get a white dragons heart for a mayor of a town to cure his ailment(His heart was quite literally ice and could be seen on his chest. It pained him both physically and emotionally. It came to be when his daughter left him.) Anyways, prior to getting the job for the mayor(bodyguards) the Barbarian fought a Half-Even Fighter and beat him. Although it was pretty close. Anyways they journeyed to where the dragon was supposed to be and unearthed a white dragones body, they assumed this was the one they were looking for so they were kind of dejected and gathered what they would from it and were going to go back. A deranged servant of the dragons came along and though they killed him, so they fought him, and defeated him easily. Then the dead dragons sibling came and surprised them, he attacked them and it was a tough battle and HPs fluctuated a lot. So, they killed him, got a lot of his body parts and headed back to town. That is where the session ended.

Oh, yeah they also fought some cursed Humans which the Drgaon cursed, they will not find out that the curse has been lifted until next game, but I need to tell them that.

Heh, I think it was cool of me to srpise them with the dragon, because they did not have tome to get any of their proper defenes up. :D

The Dragon was a young one by the way. :)

Sorry for any typos, but I am really tired right now.

That was smooth man, really smooth.

It's actually cool that you surprised your players, but didn't actually TPK'ed them. Quite smooth.

What's a myorof ?

Woops, hehe, that was a typo, I meant to say "Mayor of" :)

I also like to confuse my players because they often ask me if this guy did it or if that guy did it. So I often just say, maybe, maybe not. Maybe the dark blue cloak could be mistaken for purple in the light you were in? :]

Sometimes I do things like give them a book written in a strange language that rambles on and on about a power that ruins worlds. It could just be the ramblings of a mad man, or maybe it was just something someone wrote and sold to get money? Or it even could be a doomsday prophecy. Who knows?

It's nice that you don't just focus on the numbers, but actually put stuff together to surprise your players, like the book thing.

Just remember: don't go at it like you're trying to screw your players, but that you're trying to challenge them. It's important if you want them to keep coming back to your table.
