Wasn't there an SRD weapon that could negate a shield's AC bonus?

I must have remembered incorrectly, but I thought the flail could negate the AC bonus of a shield, because it could hit around it, being a flail and all.

Did this rule come from 2nd ed. days or something? Does this rule sound familiar?

Is there a weapon that does negate the AC bonus of a shield, WotC or other publisher?

Yeah, I remember that rule. It was for flails; they could bypass the shield bonus to AC. But there was a downside that made it not worth it (I can't recall what is was). I also don't remember if it was 2E or 3E.

You're thinking of the flail rules from GURPS. You have a penalty to Block or Parry a flail, and cannot Parry a flail using a fencing weapon in that system.

2nd ed Player's Option: Combat and Tactics had many weapon vs armor specific rules in it.

Flail bypassing a shield was one, a thrown hand ax could also ruin the shield, etc.

Nothing in 3.5 on it.

The Pin Shield feat from Complete Warrior allows a two-weapon fighter to give up all off-hand attacks in exchange for depriving an opponent of the benefit of his shield for the round. Could that be what you're looking for?
