Wow- what if M. Night made a kaiju (giant monsters- godzilla, etc.) movie?

I believe I just soiled myself.

He mentioned in an interview that he would love to do a Godzilla movie. He would like to center on how society was impacted by these giant creatures- from warning drills similar to the 1950's nuclear scare (duck and cover) to cults developed around the monsters.

Weren't there supposed to be sequels for Unbreakable.

Bruce Willis mentioned there were plans to do two more movies, but at the same time M. Night Shyamalan said he was not considering doing a sequel.

I loved Unbreakable, but there were a couple things about the Mr. Glass character that sort of marred it for a friend of mine, and guess I can kind of, grudgingly, see his point.

Mainly, he was annoyed by the implication that he who is different (the black, highly intelligent, slightly effeminate, flamboyantly dressed weakling who got beat up in grade school) has to be the villain, while he who is the white, strong, married ex-football player is obviously the hero.

Urrgh... I disagree with your friend. There was no implication that they had to be anything. One example of skinny picked-on black guy villain vs. married handsome white football guy doesn't imply that skinny picked-on black guys have to be villains.

I don't think he's effeminate at all, either. Flamboyant- oh yeah. Effeminate? I... I don't think so.

On another, more juvenile note, I'm wondering who could out-badass Sam Jackson. I'm talking that intimidating charismachismo. Who could match him deliver lines that just say "walk away, boy, you do not want to **** with this." Yul Brynner? A younger Jack Nicholson? Eastwood? Chow Yun-Fat? Richard Simmons? I'm beginning to think that Mr. Jackson may well be the baddest man in the whole damn town...

I once thought of a poster for this movie that had the sillouette of David Dunn in the Security raincoat under that pouring rain, with the tagline "Heroes are real".

Ever actually draw it?

Signs just had me glued to the chair. I cringed and was spooked and when that first alien showed up in the TV (in Brazil, no less!), my reaction was identical to Joaquin Phoenix's!

I'm melting! Melting!

More BAD than Yul Brenner? You infidel!!

Ok...Good point, but Yul was the man 40 years before we knew there was a man.

Interesting to see who your picks were - I like your taste.

PS - On topic: Unbreakable was nearly a perfect movie in my opinion. Picking Jackson to be the villain and the against the grain acting was perfect.

Interesting side note about Jackson and the role: M. Night wrote the part specifically for him and no one else to play. Cool, huh?
