I pre-ordered Diablo II Collector's Edition from Amazon and it took two weeks for it to arrive here in Western Kansas. Granted, it may have been an isolated case, but it's the ONLY time I've ordered from them.....
Don't know much about Waterdeep myself. Is it a high-level setting? I know Undermountain is located there and it's for all levels, but is the rest of the city full of town-guard killers?
Waterdeep is probably akin to Freeport, Bluffside and/or Sanctury in terms of overall size.
Temperment, different story. Waterdeep is where almost ANYTHING can happen. Undermountain is just one of them.
It's home to Khelben Arunsun, one of the Chosen and self-appointed administrator to Waterdeep's Lords.
There's literally TONS of stuff from 1st, 2nd and now 3rd edition covering Waterdeep. It's basically so damn massive its a wonder some times that it doesn't end up being its own plane.
Waterdeep is the heart of the Western Heartlands. All roads lead to Waterdeep and you can find a lot of stuff, both good and bad, there.
It's one of the biggest cities of Faerûn. The city proper a population of about 130,000, and if you count the area around it, it goes beyond one million. In addition to the city, you have Undermountain, the most legendary dungeon on the planet, and Skullport, where you can find those few races that aren't present in Waterdeep proper. Everyone can find adventure there.

Yes my bad. Waterdeep is the heart and soul of the Sword Coast, not the Western Heart lands. Although it does attract its fair share of people in that area to it.
Kaeyoss,
Not sure about that! I mean the first level of Undermountain, sure can be bad. But I'd not say its unsuited to low level parties. Just beyond the first four rooms anyway.
But honestly while I consider Undermountain one of the most legendary dungeons in FR history, indeed D&D history, I think in terms of overall deadliness, Rappan Athuk is somewhat deadlier. Of the top 10 TPK dungeons ever made, Undermountain CERTAINLY has to rank with in the top three, if not well within the top five.
