Way bored! Opportunity to pimp Story Hours!

I have no story hour to pimp. (contact), however, does. And if you haven't read his story hours, you're missing out.

There's a link to the Liberation of Tenh in my .sig, which ought to be good for killing a couple-three hours.

Joshua Dyal's Detroit Cthulhu SH is very good. He writes well (as a player in Quickbeam's game), and his style is very appropriate for modern CoC.

Don't make coyote6 put the talcum powder on his hand. You know how Pimpin' Bob gets when his quotas aren't met.

If you haven't read any of my Story Hours, start with our home-brew Return to the Temple.

But don't just take coyote6's word for it. In the thread's intro, Piratecat said:

  • "After ten pages, I couldn't put it down. And when I finished it in the wee hours of the morning, it was everything I could do not to wake KidCthulhu and make HER read it! . . . And recently re-reading it, I'm reminded by how damn good it really is. Character death galore. Sneaky machiniations. Epic battles. And an awful lot at stake."

Of course, it’s not just Piratecat who likes the thread. Other ENWorld posters agree:

  • God I love this story . . . Probably my favorite story hour ever. Laughed my ass off the whole time.

"I just read the whole thing in one sitting...damn. That ruled." -- Jeph

I wish someone cared enough to kill my characters with such an unwavering sense of purpose. Gather ‘round boys and girls, this is the real thing” -- Morrow

Thank you (cntxt)! Just what I needed right now.” -- Dinkeldog

Yet another reason never to leave the house.” -- Kesh

Seriously, one of the best ever SH threads.” – Rel

I think you'll find that it's a fun read, and the TOEE2 game is the run-up to the Liberation of Tenh.

I also write the Risen Goddess story hour, which is slightly less light-hearted, and generally more epic in scope. In the RG, our heroes span the planes, and uncover the dirt on the Elven Pantheon in a deific family affair of Springer-esque proportions.

Play on, play on. Play more D&D.

Sure, why not? I'm not ashamed to say that I wish I had more readers. I've never managed to snag any of the professional story hour addicts :)

What I don't count!?

I am trying, really I am.

re

Dr. Midnight's Story hour is a good, fun read. It is completed, and you can read it all from beginning to end. Dartan is probably the most interesting character, but Vek isn't bad either. They are both the only survivors from the original Knights of the Silver Quill which preceded the campaign. That story is a good read as well.

Knights of Spellforge Keep

Hmm. Storyhour pimping is not my strong point, but I'll give it a go:

Tales of the Seldarn Empire - The Megamodule Jam and The Copperheads.

Two campaigns being run in the same setting at the same time, each containing a member of a militant Kobold monk order whose followers only answer to the name "Yip."

The Mega-module Jam deals with a crew of misfit vetrans of the Empires last War, all retiring to the peaceful village of Hommlet where they are engrosed in troubles with the Temple of Elemental Evil and lured to the nearby metropolise that holds the fearsome Banewarrens.

The Copperheads follows a group of freelance adventurers in the service of St Cuthbert as they free small towns from mental domination, crusade against corrupted members of their faith, tangle with furious fey and head into the dangerous wilderness of the frozen north to make their fortunes.

Not a tale of the Seldarn Empire

In Hextor's Name/Zalich's Journal
THe same adventure from two viewpoints. One consists of the reports a half-orc cleric of Hextor sends to his superiors as an adventuring party investigates the Sinister Secrets of Saltmarsh, which is contrasted with the memoiurs of Zalich Wavewalker - sailor, chef and halfling wizard. Co-written with Capellan.

Come and read the Kyri Chronicles!

It is more of an adventure log than a story, but it can be fairly gritty. it is a combination of adventure path, dungeon and homebrew modules in a homebrew world

It has a very high story to comment ratio ;)

reader quotes

I've got a comfy seat, popcorn, and one of those air horns for the cheering. More! - Piratecat

Excellent combat scenes, I loved the way you describe this battle, it really sucked me into the action. - Ziggy

So why not come and give it a try? It comes in crunchy, bite-sized pieces!

Cheers

Okay, here's a short one of mine that very few people ever found, as it only ran for five games:

It is called "Promise City, Arizona", and is a western set on an AD&D/Boot Hill hybrid world, using an old TSR Boot Hill module (Bullets & Ballots) as the backdrop. In fact, it was Piratecat who first told me about ENWorld in an e-mail where he suggested I post the log here. The link is as follows:

Piratecat: Cool! :D

Anyone got a link to 'Lady Despina's Virtue'?

The Wyre series by Sepulchrave is what I would particularly recommend. (You've probably read it already though :D)

Yeah, I've of course ATE the Wyre series. Mmm.

Angcuru - Don't feel bad, dude. I'm pretty sure no one reads my Story Hour. :( Admittedly, there haven't been many sessions of the campaign, but they're coming!

As is the asked-for bumpz0r.

Arwink - I've read all your stuff. I dig the tiers of duty in In Hextor's Name. And, honestly, I only read your stuff because of your rad avatar. :D

Everyone - I've read Detroit Cthulhu (well, the one post of it), and all of Dr. Midnight's stuff - especially Six In The Chamber, that SH made me try Feng Shui with my face-to-face group.

I'm glad to see a lot of the little guys getting some pimp. :D
