(WAY OT) Help me move my PC!!

Grizwold - My #1 choice would be to ship it, but the cost of shipping an entire PC from FlLorida to London will most likely cost A BUNCH of money. Perhaps if u could give me the web site or phone number of "DHL" I could compare prices and stuff.

And Hypersmurf- I laughed out loud at your post. Sorry for the confusion

Thanks

A friend of mine has taken his computer across country a few times just by putting it in his suitcase and padding it with clothing. So far, nothing has happened to it, but I don't know if I'd be that trusting. I don't think that would work with a monitor, though.

Might be a stupid idea, but why not run a full backup and only take a few cd's with you. Sell and buy a new one? Youll avoid, the shipping, and you dont need to switch the power unit (Or get a converter)

Good luck on your move btw!

I'd be more worried about airport baggage handlers myself, they recruit neanderthal poo flingers and theyre controlled by a mentally retarded overmind who thinks Melbourne is 'kinda close' to Mozambique...

Rofl, I keep thinking of that scene in Fight Club where "Jack" doesn't get his luggage back and is talking to the guy at the terminal there.

SECURITY TFM (to Jack)
Throwers don't worry about ticking. Modern bombs don't tick.

JACK
Throwers?

SECURITY TFM
Baggage handlers. But when a suitcase vibrates, the throwers have to call the police.

- Back it up

- Remove the HD

- Pack it well

- Ship it Fed Ex

- Insure it.

It will likely costs you upwards of $100 to ship it, but that's still well worth it.

Or - you could just put that $100 towards a downpayment on a financed laptop. Then you'd have the laptop as carry-on, AND even be able to use it on the flight over and back.

Or - there are places in major cities that will rent you a laptop, or PC for a few weeks or few months. Take the backups on CD and do that instead.

X-Ray machines will wipe your system prom chips drives and all. All the airports you're going to be departing from and landing at and ask them. They probably have things in place for this
