The timing roughly coincides with the beginning of the exceptional heat in Europe. I'm not making predictions or saying one way or the other but a shift in the North Atlantic Current would be an indicator of sudden climate change.

It will be very interesting (as in the proverb; may you live in interesting times) to see how the weather situation develops in Europe this autumn.
If we had a better idea of what the melt-rates are in the Greenland ice sheet we might be able to make better predictions about some of the macro-climate changes in Northern Europe.
