Ways for monks to get better SR pre-epic

That would indeed be a mightly powerful item. I've not seen anything anywhere for that, um, although I want to say there might be soemthing in the lords of madness book with the abberation feats, but I dont have it with me right now to look.

Be a celestial of fiendish (SR = HD+5 max 25)? (LA + 5)
Be a half-celestial or Half-Fiend (SR = HD + 10 max 35)? (LA +4)

Not very good anwers, I know.

In Dragon #304, there is a spell that increases a creature's SR by the caster level (greater spell resistance, Clr 6, Sor/Wiz 6). If you have access to that issue, maybe you & your DM can come up with a custom magic item (using the guidelines in the back of the DMG).

Axiomatic creature, BoED.

Permanent, no LA, SR = HD x 2, plus a bunch of other resistances. Needs an Archon to cast (make a deal).

Boost Spell Resistance [General]
Book of Vile Darkness page 47
By making a deal with an Evil power, the character has increased his magic resistance
Prerequisite: Evil alignment, innate spell resistance.
Benefit: If the character has already has innate spell resistance, he gains a +2 profane bonus to his existing spell resistance.

I guess there is the appropriate feat for good aligned characters somewhere....

Found this as well:

Exalted Spell Resistance [Exalted]
Book of Exalted Deeds, page 42
You are particularly resistant to Evil spells.
Prerequisites: Cha 15, spell resistance
Benefit: Against evil spells (spells with the evil descriptor and spell-like abilities used by evil outsiders, your spell resistance increases by +4.

Flee the Darkness [Kiho]
AEG – Rokugan page 50
You can harness your Void to resist a variety of effects.
Prerequisite: Monk or Inkyo level 3rd +, Wis 18+, Void Use.
Benefit: You may spend a Void Point to gain a +10 bonus to any Will save, or gain spell resistance 20 against magical effects which allow no save.

and lastly:

Awaken Spell Resistance [Monstrous]
Draconomicon, page 67
You gain Spell Resistance.
Prerequisites: Con 13, dragon type.
Benefit: You gain innate spell resistance equal to your racial HD.
Special: If your racial HD increases after you gain this feat, your spell resistance increases as well. If you have this feat and you also have (or later gain) spell resistance as a racial ability, your spell resistance is equal to your new HD total, or your racial spell resistance +2, which ever is higher.
You can take this feat multiple times. Each time you take the feat, your innate spell resistance increases by 2.

Would a feat to balance out spell penetration for monks be too much? I'm aware of the epic feat but it honestly sucks. There should be something pre-epic so that monks are not total douchebags against pure casters. Something other then a ring of spell storing with an antimagic shell.

But it seems there really isn't anything reasonable in official material. How would you guys rate feats that counter spell penetration? Assuming the epic version should also be equivalent to epic spell penetration.

Could work. I wouldn't see it as being game breaking.
