We are the BORG!

Modron + Yugoloth = BORG

This appears to be an interesting idea to me. It came to me while rereading the Stronghold Builders Guidebook tonight. I was looking at the mobile stronghold info, and I said to myself, "Self, how would the Forgotten Realms deal with Borgs cubes and spheres appearing all around Faerun?"

Anybody else out there think this could be interesting? Or just a waste of my time and yours?

Thanks,
Justin

Tinker Borg

Tinker Borg

Large gnome filled metal cubes with paddlewheels on the sides. They float through space looking for planets to assimilate...or blow up whichever comes first.

"You will be...*click click whiiiiiiiir* assimilated. Resitance is...*ping* fu-*clang*-tile."

I always wanted to use the Formians as Borg. They have a hive mind and can control your will; it only takes a little imagination to make it permanent.

But as they're outsiders, it makes sense that they'd have contact with the odd Modron. And as outsiders they'll have access to Vast Powers capable of building such fortresses. So it could work as a mixture...

They are outsiders of the same plane too IIRC, so they certainly have regular contacts with Modrons and are certainly allies too (I can't see an internal struggle on the plane of ultimate Law).

Hehe the Forgotten Realms have seen cubes, nukes, and me (:D) in the IR's from Edena, in the last we reached high high tech so... if you really wanna know what happend....

READ THIS!

Will take you a long time to read it all but it's gooood :D

Especially the 3rd IR is ALOT to read but it's an awsome story imho.

I am still really honored to have been able to take part in it, and am proud to have played a crucial role myself.

And I played a Formian Hive Cluster that ended up controlling 2 crystal spheres where all was part of the great Formian Swarm :D

/pimping mode off :p

Sharing the Lawful Attunement doesn't exclude having divergent opinions. The Manual of the Planes describes the Formians as being aggressive expansionists, having built hives throughout Mechanus and planning on colonizing the whole plane.

The Modrons, on the other hand, reside in a realm called Regulus and remain on the 64 Cogs that make up the realm. It's also mentionned that "the formians have yet to test the modron's strength, although such a conflict is likely as the formians continue to expand."

Formian vs Modron... Interesting concept for a conflict.
