We need to talk

Well this isn't bashing, but still religious....

I'm a unitarian and considering creating a new group with my churches Ministerial intern, who is a lapsed roleplayer, but still plays Chez Goth, Settlers of Catan etc.

I'm not sure if Saturday night would still be the best time for the group to meet :)

Heck, most of my college RPG groups consisted of Lutheran seminarians. When one of their fellow seminarians threw a fit about it, they laughed, and pointed out his fondness for the Star Wars movies, Lord of the Rings, and the fiction of C.S. Lewis. He promptly retracted.

I'm sorry, but Quantum mechanics has firmly proven that not only does God play dice, the dice he uses are loaded. :D

Oh, and, great note from the sister. Love the response. But- only 13th level? Mang, you need some serious experience points!

Take that Einstein! (Its an old joke).

I'd love to see that movie. I always try and pick up anti-D&D hysteria pieces whenever I can.

I picked up a copy of "Mazes & Monsters" on DVD at Wal-Mart for $5.50. I have the book, but I haven't read it yet.

"The Dungeon Master" is the book about the big case that started the anti-D&D crap in the 80s. It's funny though, because if you actually read the book, it's clear that D&D had nothing to do with what happened, it was just one of the kid's hobbies.

a 1st level commoner who had the benefit of a ring of 'stone skin' is more like it...either that or his attack rolls were jinxed.

That's right, a one is still a one, no matter who your opponent is.

You can't tell from looking. Sure she looks like a commoner 1 but there are many other options within the rules. Anybody can have classes with unlimited levels now. Not to mention templates or monster types that can mimic human commoners. You just don't know if he's playing under a RBDM. Or maybe its just a DM who makes the challenges faced magically scale with character level.

Um, helllo? she has the MOTHER template. Mothers get +a lot to everything, and thier bonuses are even bigger against their own offspring.

His mother survived? A 1st lvl commoner, and she survived?

Pffft.
LOL....ahhhhhhh :D well if he only used a dagger which does 1d4 damage with no strenght bonus I could see how she survived.

This is actually completely true, I'm afraid. God does not play dice and doesn't like games that use them either. He is very fond of Everway and Amber Diceless Roleplaying, however.

I see your Einstein and raise you a Hawking

Now if you had made this into a gaming joke, it would have worked. Something about DM screens, maybe? Scientific truth is less relevant to me here than making teh D&D funnies :D...

I thought it was evident.
