Weapon Focus: Grappling

A more core rules (but not as effective) approach would be a half-orc Clr3/Bbn1 with the Strength domain. Could substitute Sorceror (or Wizard) is you really, really wanted for the Cleric levels, but BAB and armor suffers. With feats Improved Unarmed Strike and Improved Grapple.

Cast Enlarge Person (domain spell) and Bull's Strength.

Strength 28 (+9) = Base 16 Str +2 racial +2 size +4 enhancement +4 rage.

Grapple check +20 = +3 BAB +9 Str Bonus +4 feats +4 size.

Also note that you cannot, are absolutely forbidden from and automatically fail at any attempt to offensively grapple a creature two or more size categories larger than you.

I think that's a dumb rule but it is part of the grappling rules. So any character focused on grappling will need another tactic when fighting foes size Huge or larger (or size Large or larger if the character is Small).

Yeah, that's a silly rule to me too. It really helps to hamstring the concept but maybe my GM would house rule differently.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! We usually stick just to the PHB and Complete series, but I may be able to talk the GM into some of these.

Aberrant Blood and Deepspawn (LoM) both add +2 to grapple checks.
Gloves of Fearsome Grip (S&F) grant a +5 enhancement bonus for 15000 gp.
A Ring of Growth (SS) lets you grow a size category and gives you a +4 Str bonus (18000 gp).

Great list! What sources are these abbreviations for? Thanks!
