Weapons Locker info

Does anyone actually have any info on what may be in Weapons Locker? or am I going to have to buy it just to find out? (a table of contents would be awesome, but even a summary - and the WOTC site is pretty sparse for that)

Generally, what I look for in an expansion (specifically a weapons expansion) are alternate rules and options on pre-existing ones. Things I find useful are rules like the variant ammo rules by the games mechanics. (means I have to do a lot less tweaking for each and every firearm) Cause while ultramodern firearms is cool, and from what I've seen of big bang its all good, I'd rather turn to my reference library on firearms for all the flavour stuff. What should I be expecting from d20 Weapons Locker? more of the same or a mix of it all?

Anyone care to comment? (yeah I know, its just been released, but usually someone's posted something by now)

A weapons nut by any other name...(its all in the genes baby!)

Actually, I don't think it's out yet. Maybe next week.

Other than the blurbs on the Wotc site, I don't know any details.

Damn, and here I thought someone may have had a sneak peek. ;)
Oh well... its the waiting game for me then.

So, can anyone tell me what the guns on the cover are supposed to be? They look cool (esp. the longarm on the bottom), but I know nothing about them.

Well, as I said previously, you're a minority gamer. Most play several game systems. After I added stats for additional systems, sales increased by close to 225%.

Actually I think you'll find that people that play several systems (at least with any regularity) are in the minority. Most gamers play one system, and usually thats D&D. The fact you got an increase in sales just reflects that you could get more of those single system gamers by publishing for their system.

The top one is a M4 with a M203 grenade launcher. The pistol looks like some M1911 variant and I have no idea what shotgun that is. Then its the typical AK47 and then the bottom is a modernized M60.

And to add to the dicussion...

I consider myself a minor gun nut, so I like long winded paragraphs, but there is a limit. A weapon's complete service record/history is nice, but it aint that useful game-wise; and a few short paragraphs isn't enough either. I think having a mix between them is good, enough room for a brief history lesson and then the hard facts, at least for a firearms-based book anyway. :p

Good to see another opinion on the subject. :)
How much history should one have, do you think?
For MY personal use, the history lesson of a gun should be like this:
Date of manufacture (when it started rolling off the assembly line... not the prototypes).
Where it was in use, then.
When / if it changed its service history.
Who has it, now.
What it boils down to, for me, is I want to know where my PCs are likely to encounter them, how many shots they can get off before reload, what sort of fire settings it has, and how much it's gonna hurt the PCs when/if they get shot.
And then on to the next gun.
I have firearms digests that give me histories and technical specifications, and stuff like that. I don't need that in a game book.
In a game book, I need the basics, and the hard stats.
Your mileage could quite well vary. And it does. And that's a good thing.

Sounds about right to me. I enjoyed the more detailed writeups in CoC d20, but it's ultimately more info than I need.

Ever see any of those "Punisher's Armory" one-shots from Marvel in the late eighties? Nice pinups of guns, with some in-character notes from the Punisher about this particular weapon's history or use or special properties. Something like that, with just a few lines of commentary, suits me fine, when done properly.
