Weapons Locker info

But, you're kind of proving my point. :) *Extra* mechanics needed to be added to make the distinctions worthwhile.

Regardless, a book like MAG is very much in keeping with the espionage genre, because espionage cares about guns. I don't really thnk SW, as a genre, gives a rat's patootie, so giving me detailed blaster listings actually breaks SOD for me. But that's just me.
The mechanics need to be there because there is no other playable way to make those distinctions appear where they need to in actual play, with regard to real guns. Some of these may be useful in SW (because they're showing up in SG-1 with regard to energy weapons), but that's conjecture on my part. I'd like to see them--my character would care about such things, so I ought to do so as well--in a product.

Are you sure about a 7.62 version of the M-249, from what I recall, they designed the M-249 independently from the MAG because of the different cartridges instead of just scaling down... Would you have a corroborating source?

Yes I am absolutely positive as I have ran a few thousand rounds through one on the range.

FN does list it on their products page, but unfortunately there is a typo listing as being a member of the M240 family rather than the M249.

I looked throught this book today. I won't be purchasing it. I am a big fan of d20 Modern. I have the other books that Wizards has done for the system. This book is not up to there usual standards.

First of all, it is all black and white.

Secondly, I did not see any master tables. You would think that they would at least put a master table in each chapter.

The art work isn't very good either.

Overall, it just is not what I have come to expect from the d20M line.

I ordered it from Amazon, got it in, and am sending it back. Not only is it repeated stats, they even list the beretta M9 and 92FS seperatly. They say Colt isn't making the 1911 anymore, and there are a few other errors I saw from a cursory look. (I glanced mainly at the items I personally have an interest in, true. The FN 2000 is not Bottom Eject either, and it's ejection system is what makes it unique.)

There's a bit of explanation for guns, all of it useless if you already know about guns. The book is heavily padded and overpriced for what you get IMO.

This is the first book I've returned to Amazon, but I really dislike it that much.

Sorry to hear this, V. (Though I may still take a look at this book.) :( Looks like WotC is at about 50/50 with the d20M line so far (assuming, like me, you didn't like UrA). Hopefully d20 Future won't be a disappointment.

*sigh*

Actually, I liked UrA, it had a lot of neat things. There's some parts they over do (mainly drow) and I don't think much of sample adventures, but I liked enough to make it worthwhile.

The monster book looked great in the store, and does have some nice stuff, but feels a little "padded" for the content. I still like it though.

Just got mine. I like it. There's just enough flavor text for my purposes...enough so that I can pick my weapons based on the character I'm playing.

Criticisms: Some of the art is a little bitmappy. There are more typos than I've come to expect in a Wotc product. And in the appendix on who uses what, there are no military units listed, which is weird.

I immediately sat down with Blood and Guts and starting statting and equipping a 15th-level Delta Force team. Someone's going to have to carry a .50 Beowulf with one of those funky shotguns mounted underneath. Now there's a gun that makes a statement.

Isn't there a shotgun shell that's designed to knock down doors?

Considering its all d20 modern, and primarily stats...hrm.....looks like it will be a better product then big bang. At least from my consumer prospective of what I'm looking for to buy.

Descriptions are nice, but I dont need a guns entire history, i need a short description and its stats. D20 Modern Locker seems to be just that! And its d20modern only!

Its got my money, despite the fact that I cant afford it! :-D

But the thing is, you don't really even need the stats... seeing as how almost all guns in a given category in D20M have the exact same stats. Look at the SMGs in Weapons Locker... with very few exceptions, they all do the same damage, have the same range increments, the same crit threat range, and the same ammo capacity.

I have a copy of it, thanks to a friend, but I'm skeptical of how much use I will get out of it.

Magnum slugs to the door hinges... it will come down. Trust me. :)

That's the impression I got as well. I assumed it was just a trait of d20 Modern. I like the damage v. caliber table from d20 CoC (I have no idea whether it's accurate or not). Also, I'm mostly interested in guns pre-1950.

They still maintain the Glock is MW, and costs 900ish. just odd...

Oh, and the one thing that I forgot to mention. The rules and stats are all OGL, set off very well. Best marking of OGL in a book IMO. I haven't seen anyone pointing it out like has happened with Unearthed Arcana, so figured I'd mention it.

In the OGL declaration, it mentions Ultra Modern Firearms. Wonder why they bother quoting a gun book in a gun book...
