In the other thread on the new excerpt, people are complaining about no weapon stats. But we have weapon stats:

Weapon Prof. Damage Range Cost Weight Category Properties
War pick___ 2____d8____ --__ 15 gp 6 lb.___ Pick __High crit, versatile

There ya go!

Actually, I think we may be able to put together some others...anyone?

I'm trying to understand this point from the preview. Does proficient now mean you get an attack bonus for the weapon and there are no more penalties? Is that what those pluses next to "prof." mean?

I'm still thinking d8 is possible, with a bump in dice for archery Rangers. Did anyone but the Ranger have a longbow?

Correct

Unfortunately, no one else had a longbow. I've seen that hypothesis around, but unfortunately there's no way to know that I am aware of.

There has been another user with a longbow (I think it was one of the NPC's from DDXP) and it was a d8. I think the ranger can either take feat to boost, or there's an ability he may have for it.

Proficiency X does mean the bonus you get if you're proficient. There are no more penalties to weilding a weapon you're not profient with. Instead, you lack the benefits from the weapon. For the most part, this is just moving the number from - to +, but it's quicker to use on the fly.

Yes.

I'm glad you are giving Warhammer a Pro +2, as it 'fixes' Kathra, the dwarven fighter, after it was revealed that Dwarven weapon training does not give a +1 to hit. Though if a 1d10 Warhammer is not a Prof +1 weapon, what is? Only the very very biggest weapons I guess - Greataxe, great club?

I've been able to find two monsters using a longbow, the Gnoll Huntmaster and the Hobgoblin Archer, both of which do d10 damage with their bows. Unfortunately, they are also both Artillery monsters, so it doesn't mean anything. I haven't seen a d8 longbow anywhere, however. If you know of any, I'd be interested in seeing it.
