Limit Break Dancing (He/They)
Quick PSA: this thread for discussing, promoting, and sharing our favorite webcomics. If you just want to share a funny comic you found, it might be a better fit over in the D&D Memes thread. Also, many webcomics out there are NSFW and may contain material not suitable for all audiences...feel free to chat them up and tell us all about them, but don't post any links to NSFW content. Thanks!

Do you read webcomics? What are some of your favorites, and why?

I'll start...

Questionable Content
I've been reading Questionable Content almost since its beginning...I think I started around the time that Hannelore was introduced. It updates Mondays thru Fridays, so it's in my evening rotation after every workday. If you aren't familiar with it: it's a slice-of-life romantic comedy that takes place in present-day Northampton, except with robots. In the early days, the artwork was more basic and most of the jokes were about indie rock and dating, but over the years both have matured quite a bit. (And the way Jeph has written the androids in QC is how I run the Warforged in Eberron.)

I was recently introduced to this:

I don’t know that it’s active anymore, but I liked it.

I really like Tales from the Tables by Dungeons & Doodles

This one is set in and around Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms. It follows the adventures of the author's OC, a paladin named Angela, and her friends. These are different adventures to the ones in which he plays Angela as an actual PC. Currently, Angela and co are about to embark on a quest into Undermountain on behalf of Open Lord Laeral Silverhand.

I really like the art style, and I appreciate that the author takes great pains to be as accurate with Realmslore and even the layout of Waterdeep as possible.

The comic has been irregularly updated so far, but the author recently announced he'd quit his day job in order to be a comic artist full time, so maybe his output will increase?

Also, Tales from Alderwood is good. It's set in a more modern fantasy world with a magitech vibe. The main character, a scrappy young wizard named Kat, ends up working for a wealthy half-elf who runs a magical research facility after she accidentally teleports herself into his house. She's currently on board a magical steamship. It's mostly black-and-white but magic is portrayed with color, which really makes it pop.

The story is fun, and while it's based on D&D, it's got some unique elements to it, and a non-standard fantasy setting, so it feels fresh.

It's currently on a weekly release schedule, although the story can move slowly at times. (The current chapter, "Ship Happens", seems to be dragging on a bit ...)

I also still check in on the Goblins comic occasionally, but not only is it irregularly updated, it's also just become painfully slow. They've been in that seemingly endless dungeon for years now with very little to show for it. Based on the latest comic, it seems like even some of the characters are getting sick of it!

Wow, I remember questionable content, been years since I stopped reading it. Not sure why, it might have just dropped off my RSS feeds.

I read penny arcade and Atomic Robo I also read a webcomic called Oglaf, a large number of the comics are NSFW though, I'll let others google it.

Another good one that seems to have finished was Up to Four Players the artist did some of the artwork for the penny arcade dnd book, Acquisitions Inc., and they have even made their own savage worlds campaign setting.

Order of the Stick! I think this is the best D&D webcomic, great jokes, and some very D&Disms. Honorble mention to Life of the Party though.

XKCD Great geek comic, often very educational. HIghbrow humor, often, and good for the single panel format.

Irregular Webcomic. One of the OG's. The author went something like 20 years with a comic every day. It's in reruns now but there are like 3000 strips -- all LEGO webcomics!

Darths & Droids. From the creator of Irregular Webcomic, inspired byt DM of the RIngs below, this imagines the Star Wars Saga as an RPG. It's in the latter part of the sequel trilogy now.

DM of the Rings. Fantastic screencap comic that imagines Lord of the Rings as a D&D game. Some hilarious jokes. Complete. The creator is sadly deceased.

Edit: Added some explanations. I read Oglaf for DerpFox.

That’s an understatement!
That reminds me: share any and all of your favorites, but please don't link or embed pornographic content in this thread (or anywhere else on this site, per The Rules.) Some webcomics aren't suitable for all audiences, after all.
