I use it regularly for a game in which I rotate with two other DMs. As the good Patryn said, it can be difficult to improvise, mapping is a pain. All in all it is a pretty solid format though. Without it, I would not still be playing with members of my original group from over 20 years ago, as many of them have moved away.
Also give OpenRPG a try. Both have have positives and negatives. Open has "whiteboard" feature which allows the DM to draw freehand maps, which makes it easier to catch up when the players do something unexpected.
There are many optional features, such as keeping character sheets in a format made of WebRPG, additional sounds, etc., but we pretty much stick to the bare bones.
My preference will always be for in-person gaming, but I'm glad I have an backup option to keep my old group together.
