Weird Collections

My mom used to make hats out of actual beer cans and yarn during the 1970s. I saved the pull tabs from them and linked them together to make several chains to hang in front of my closet since I didn't have a door. The beer hats and the tab chains are long gone.

I can't think of anything weird that I collect since I'm a pack rat and hardly throw anything away. Maybe my large collection of unfinished and unused characters for various rpgs might count.

We had an elderly aunt who lived with us then and she wore one made of soda cans and yarn. She'd wear it while working in the flower garden. She was real proud of that hat.

It may not qualify as wierd, but I collect international currency. It's one of my favorite art mediums - perhaps because we see so much money, but rarely stop to appreciate the artistry or science that goes into the minting of currency. I like money for its own sake. I have some defunct European currency, including aluminium coins from East Germany, and some nice pieces from the far east. Now, I've just got to get some british currency before the fools go to Euros. (I, personally, hope that's not forthcoming.)

When I have more income and more space, I'll no doubt start collecting elephants. They're just cool- who can say why.

Oh, and maybe some more of those cheap imitation-rosewood, resin figurines of various eastern gods. We've got a few dragons, and it's hard to have too many dragons, but I've only got one or two Buddhas and no Lei Kung or any others.

My wife, who still couldn't be bothered to post here, or even set up an account, will probably get some more inscense burners once we have the space/money. After all, who can be expected to get by with only three?

It's not my weird collection, but... when my wife and I were dating she pulled out two boxes of toothbrushes with the heads cut off. Apparently she has been collecting toothbrushes for years and years! We still have them under out bathroom sink.... :)

I live in the UK. Depending on where you are, maybe we can work something out. ;)

Knives - used to be a rule that whenever my father travelled on business, I'd get him to bring me back a knife. He still does sometimes, but it's okay if he gets me some other kind of weapon - like, the Maori didn't have knives in New Zealand, they had clubs called mere, so he bought me one of those.

Film Tickets - I have one for nearly every film I've seen for the past nine years. The first is Men In Black.

Matches - Boxes and books. Another travel thing, and I'm not as good at keeping up with it as I should be.
