As my email inbox will attest, many of you have noticed that EN World has been inaccessible for the last couple of days. This is because the server was sending out a couple of months' worth of backlogged automated emails (thread subscriptions, private message notifications, and so on). Our best estimate is that it had over 16,000,000 emails to send to over 80,000 people (I know I received a few hundred myself)!
For now, we've turned off the email-based features of the site, so you won't be able to subscribe to threads and forums, etc. until we can figure out exactly why the mailserver got hung up and backlogged - we don't want another mail queue of that size building up again!
We've just opened up the site again, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that it remains up and running. We'll be keeping an eye on it today to see what happens.
