Whew, thanks to the enworld community for saving the day again. I hate that i told this player the wrong thing but glad I caughti t tuesday. I was just looking at her sheet and thinking , wow this guy is pretty powerful. I'm going to have to go with the racial level thing that wizards provided

Actually, memory serving, you -have- to take one class level in something, because of the base creature being a 1hd humanoid.

But you have got 6 levels in 'tiger'.

But you can only take your first level of Tiger *after* you take your first level of Weretiger (of course, if you're going by the Savage Progressions template class over at WotC's site).

If your PC has 1 level of an NPC class (like the commoners in the MM), your ECL will still be 9.

I played a natural were tiger marshall using the WOTC racial class and was allowed to take the lycanthorpe level +3 then take alternating class and tiger levels (eg weretiger 3/Marshall 1/Tiger 1)

it was fun and played as the tiger-form slwly taking over the human form and the character having to deal with that transformation towards savagery

So with the wotc racial class she took 3 levels of weretiger, 3 levels of tiger and 3 levels of scout for an ecl of 9th level.

Is that right. The wotc thing sounded jumbly in places

Doesnt' sound right, but I haven't seen the WotC racial class. As per savage species, your monster class will have a number of levels equal to LA + Racial HD. A Natural Weretiger has LA +3 and 6 Racial (tiger) hit dice, as per the Monster Manual. So your monster class will have 9 levels. After completing these levels your PC will be 9th level, with 6HD. At this point the PC may take class levels. The PC may NOT take class levels until the monster class progression is finished.

Here's a link to the savage progression chart. The player has only taken 3 out of the 6 levels of the "tiger optional class". Is there still a level adjustement with the racial classes?
