Weretiger ECL

Yes, that's the point of the savage progression template. When you finish the template, you have the LA + HD of a natural weretiger.

I can't speak for what's been on the web site, but original one in SS didn't have optional racial HD -the monster progression classes were all or nothing.

Bah! I was reading Savage Progression as Savage Species Progression and couldn't for the life of me understand why they were getting it wrong. ;)

They introduced a distinction between 'savage progression' and 'savage species progression'? Did they think LA/ECL/whatever wasn't confusing enough already?

My advice would be ignore any of this savage progressions stuff and start the characters at 10th level (LA+3, 6 HD, 1 class level). If you don't want to start that high up, suggest a substitute type of lycanthrope with fewer HD. The classic werewolf only has 2 animal HD (allowing a 6th level start with 1 class level), whereas the wererat has none (allowing 4th)!

Tell me about the confusion. I would have done the full class, but that wouldn't be fair to the current players in my campaign as she would start at a level equal to them (and I made a big deal about how all new and rerolled characters start a level below the party average.

I'd go the classic werewolf but this woman wants to be a be a weretiger. I"ve known her for 6 years and its been a dream of hers to be in a campaign with a weretiger. SHe's one of those high strung players whom is solely into playing tthis character. Heck, I don't ven think the stats matter to her. But me as a DM, it matters and i got to do it by the book.

So she's starting at 9th level?

Yeah shes starting at ninth level,
right now she's 3rd level tiger, 3rd level were tiger, and 3rd level scout.

I got to admit i don't like this turn at will for as long as you want policy. I want to import some fatigue rules, perhaps for an hour after turning into full tiger.

If you are going to start her at 9th level, I'd recommend that you don't let her take more than one level of a character class until she finishes her savage progression. So start her as a Weretiger 3/Tiger5/Scout 1, and make her take that last tiger level before she can take anymore class levels.

I would but I think its too late now. I don't think she'll take advantage of it, again she's only into the character because the of what the chararacter is. Even with the DR she's still no where near the power level of the warforged fighter with monky grip, I swear, he criticalled and rolled well, took 81 points of damage. Most damage I'd ever seen in a game.

If this progression works like the planar race progressions in the Planewalkers Handbook, you have to complete the species progression before you can multiclass.
