Werewolf Teeth Question

'm pretty sure causing huge amounts of pain to no purpose other than you having a piece of jewelry isn't showing much concern for the dignity of anything, and is kind of more in the hurting and oppressing end of things.

You're also assuming that werewolves can actually feel the pain, or if it causes any pain in the first.

Considering in D&D werewolves can only be injured by magical or silvered weapons.

So, that could indicate a high resistance to pain.

Or if not then maybe you could anesthetize the creature to eliminate the pain.

Either way, if causing the creature pain is all that makes the act evil, then if you don't cause the creature pain it isn't evil.

I think what makes the act evil is that you are causing unneccisary pain to create an item that is able to inflict others with an alignment destroying curse/disease.

Which, if causing pain is the only thing that makes it an evil act, then there ways to not cause pain.

But the assumption is that it causes pain in the first place, and in D&D, they are injured ONLY by silver, silvered, or magical weapons.

And that's a good indication that they don't feel much pain.

Which was the point of my last post.

Not familiar with St. Nick's buddy Krampus, then? ;)

"What kinda kinky christmas is this?"
"I think its germanic."

I blame the shopping malls and radio stations, for playing holiday tunes before bloody Thanksgiving!! Why if I...errrr... what was this thread about, again? ;)

Ah yes, krampus.. I have a version of him in my game. He'd be the type that would not only yank the teeth from a living werewolf, but he'd make said beastie wear a ring of regeneration so he could yank teeth on a daily basis.

But he's a bad guy.

STATS PLEASE? Did you make it a devil, demon, or a fey?

And don't forget they have DR 10/silver backing them up. you use re-purposed masonry tools
This one I'll grant - silver dental pliers are few and far between.

That said - removal would come under either 'Heal' or 'Profession [Barber]' (the medical Jack of All Trades for much of history) skills. Probably pretty danged high DC. Breaking the jaw wasn't all that uncommon during the practice of mediaeval dentistry. Given the size and crude design of the pliers used, this is no great surprise. (As an aside - I once visited a Colonial Gaol that had allowed a prioner to continue practicing as a barber/leach/dentist... until he pulled the bars out of his cell and escaped, using the dental pliers.... Near Kittery, Maine, that gaol is.)

As already mentioned, the use of the teeth as material components or as part of a Blade of Lycanthropy or the like makes more sense (to me at least) than accidental infection.

And the torturous removal of the teeth from the critter is hardly good - unless removal of the teeth is somehow part of curing the werewolf through non-lethal means. (Sorry you don't have any teeth now Bob, but at least you're no longer chasing cars....)
