West Coast SHARKCON!

SHARK

First Post
Greetings!

Ok, here's the deal. It has been hanging around in my mind for awhile. How many would like to attend a West Coast SHARKCON, say in July or August? The convention would be small-scale, hosted by me, and have a distinctive SHARK flavour. There would be a gathering of a group of us, all together, taking turns DMing and playing in each other's campaign worlds. There would be lots of goodies, good booze, fine cigars, lots of top-notch food, and we could all pony up and nail down a group of suites at a major hotel, and stay for say, four or five days. Let's try and do it for sometime say in July or August of this year. Anticipated cost? Aside from personal travel expenses, maybe three to six hundred dollars. I'm just estimating the hotel costs and food contributions really. It could be cheaper, but I plan to have good food, and so on, so it will offer something more than fast food. Just some thoughts. I would host the event, along with my wife and friends, and any of my friends here that would like to sign up for management events and tasks. Location would be right here in sunny Southern California, say either in Anaheim or Long Beach.

I think it would be great. I think a six month lead time is ok to coordiante and plan this. Who would like to do it? Let's get this up and going then, if you would be interested.:)

Woot! I would LOVE to attend this. Both I and my RPG-loving wife will make every effort. I think the timeline and the price are both reasonable. I think I would prefer August to July, but could most likely make either work.

Great idea, SHARK.

Oh man...

What I wouldn't give to be able to attend SHARKCON.

Of course, money would definitely be an issue, since my travel expenses would be HUGE (crossing the Pacific costs quite a bit), and then there's the inherent danger of flying into the states.

And the fact that I'd be flying east from Sydney (east=jet lag). The odds are against my participation, but I'll endeavour to get it together.

Like I said, I'd love to come.

Sounds like fun! I know my name was mentioned in the post that led to this thread, but I'm hardly a West Coast resident, unless you mean the west coast of Lake Huron. Also, some personal issues conspire against me this year, but next year I'd probably be all over this.

Greetings!

Indeed, I think that this can get off the ground, and it will be very fun! Is there anyone who would be interested in planning various events and coordinating stuff for people?

I would love to hang out with you, shark. But with travel 3-6 hundred is a bit rich for my blood.

better luck next time :D

Well, seeing as how I live in Garden Grove, I'd love to attend... and I could sleep at home! :)

Don't know that I could do the whole 4-5 days but would love to show up for 1 and meet some of my fellow ENWorlders. :)

I'd like to attend if I'm through with my classes. I'll be returning to the states in August or September so the date would probably be the deciding factor.

I would love to attend, but I think that the time frame you refer to is too close to Gen Con for me to allocate funds.

Most of my free money in August-ish is aimed at Gen Con.

But man, SHARK Con...that's an idea with legs.
