WFRP and the Warhammer novel line, is it really a shared setting?

Getting lost in fantasy maps
Can anyone who has read the Warhammer novel line, and has experience with the Warhammer Fantasy Battles product line also, answer a question?

The setting has been around for a long time, and I have been admiring it from afar, never bothering to get into it beyond reading the blurbs on a book now and then. I heard that the WFRP 2nd edition has noticible differences between the its representation of the Old World, and the Old World of the mini's wargame.

I really want to find some more setting material to help supplement the WFRP2 stuff I have just bought. Finding the old WFRP stuff is nearly impossible I have discovered. But how about looking at the Warhammer Fantasy Battles supplements, or the Warhammer novel line? Would any of that help someone new the Old World get a grasp of it all? I did just see a new Warhammer novel that advertised itself as fitting in with the new WFRP 2nd edition rules just being released, and it made me think about looking at further novels to help flesh out my understanding of the world.

Ok, I don't read the novles, and I'm not that up with the WFB setting, but what I can tell you is that the v2 RPG setting was brought in line with changes made in WFB. So yes, now it is a shared setting.

Bingo. The current edition of WFRP is based around the recent events of the worldwide campaign for WHFB, The Storm of Chaos. AFAIK, the recent novels are also based around this invasion of the Old World by Archaon and his horde. The Storm of Chaos book might help you, the Fantasy Battle rulebook also would, although its probably too pricey just to get for fluff.

The "Slayer" novels aren't bad, and the Genevieve novels by Jack Yeovil/Kim Newman are good.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Say, has anyone bothered to compile a timeline of the Warhammer novels? Or for that matter a comprehensive timeline of the developed history and from the events of the WFB material?
