what age do you start your character at?

I usually start (1st level characters) around 17-19. I want my character to be young only because he has his whole life in front of him and who knows what I'll want him to be. He might need plenty of time, heh

Varies with the character. Usually 20-ish though younger for young roguish types or older (mid-late 20s) for wizards and other learned characters, probably due to my own experience with higher education and the time needed to properly understand a subject.
