What were the details and motivations of her husbands murder?
I'd say she was CN and became more and more Evil, Husbands muder, and is now ruthlessly and relentlessly pursueing her goal. The entire thing is kind of a paradox. Willing to take life so as to create it. Warped.
If she were Lawful in some way wouldnt she have exhausted all other known means of Healing before introverting and researching on her own? Clerics, churches, Wizard Academeys, those sorts of things.
anyway, those are the best NPCs, the ones that the party kinda says yeah thats messed up, but if I were backed into the corner I might do the same thing. Getting the party to pity someone they ultimately must destroy is the best way to get them to think about their characters and get off the path of "a monster! I kill it!"
