What are the best Convention games?

Crothian

First Post
Convention season is coming up and soon people will be signing up for games. We all know that convnetion games are ae bit different from the standard weekly games. Most are one shots, the DM and other players can be an interesting random selction of gamers. So, what games do you try to get into?

Personally, this year I'm hoping to get into a Paranaio game, I'd love to see what the new Grimm is like but if not I'll settle for the old d20 version, games run in QAGs by those QAGs guys are a hoot of very not serious gaming, and I hope to give Blue Rose a run. Feng Shui is always a fun one as well.

Paranoia is a great convention game as it works well for one shots and players are rarely that attached to their characters.

I tend to end up playing a lot of card and board games at conventions as I usually end up at the one day meets in London.

Paranoia and Cthulhu are great. Also, X-Crawl is a great game at a convention. These are games which can easily be started and finished in about 4 hours. Any kind of comedy game is a good option. Interestingly enough, D&D is usually one of the games I stay far away from as a good D&D game is tough to do well in 4 hours. Furthermore, I also really love playing games that I have had no exposure to.

Pretty much anything I haven't played before.

This year, I'm hoping to get into a few d20 games that I haven't played yet, The New Argonauts being one of them.

Dry Soap: A great little ditty where you guess how long it has been since the guy next to you got his soap wet.

Red lamps, Yellow food: Centered mostly around guessing how long your current meal ahs been under a hotlamp.

One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer: Arguing woth the bartender at the Ram over whether you can order drinks for everyone at your table, or if you have to order individually.

Q: Standing in a loose line with 4000 others. Takes a while to get to your intitiative.

Duck, Duck, Moose: Walking past scores of people, looking not to get knocked down by the 400 lb. guy who doesn't watch where he is going.

PANIC! : cute game centered around trying to find the person making a drama out of nothing.

I'm saving this on computer so I can laugh some more later on. :)
