What are the best Convention games?

Gamer not a Gamer - play anywhere within 3 blocks of convention center.
once got into a discussion about kobolds with 4 random tables in a pizzeria

Cartoon logs - guess the number of people who will be sleeping in the animae room at midnight. bonus points for the number in sleepingbags/bedding.

------
I have had some great CoC games, but not Novus Orum they tend to be rules lite, wacky and less fun.

RPGA tornament games with pregen char and indivual advancement have been some of the best I have played, by round 2 you have a great group of roleplayers. I am a consistant 2nd best player and always make round 2, only once to the third.

RPGA tornament living and team advancement have been the worst, after being burned hard twice on each I avoid them. Team play is so plot driven there is little room for fun, and living brings out the powergamers, many could care less about the game as long as their charater comes out ahead.

Courting Murders, assuming it is still running, is more like diplomacy than D&D - but great fun
it is half way to LARP with out the pretentions, costumes, or silly rules.

Some of this may just be based on playing style.

Duck, Duck, Moose: Walking past scores of people, looking not to get knocked down by the 400 lb. guy who doesn't watch where he is going.

Damn you Clay, Damn you! Coke spraying out my nose when I laugh is not a good thing 5 minutes before a meeting.

Dry Soap: A great little ditty where you guess how long it has been since the guy next to you got his soap wet.

Red lamps, Yellow food: Centered mostly around guessing how long your current meal ahs been under a hotlamp.

One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer: Arguing woth the bartender at the Ram over whether you can order drinks for everyone at your table, or if you have to order individually.

Q: Standing in a loose line with 4000 others. Takes a while to get to your intitiative.

Duck, Duck, Moose: Walking past scores of people, looking not to get knocked down by the 400 lb. guy who doesn't watch where he is going.

PANIC! : cute game centered around trying to find the person making a drama out of nothing.

Brilliant. I think the last one is reserved exclusively for LARPers.

I also enjoy:

Fanboy mockery - where you get to feel sorry for the people standing in a long line and paying money just to get someone's autograph because they got hired to play a non-speaking role in a Star Wars movie.

gawking at the gawkers - where you can watch little fat kids obsess and stare at the booth babes.

group gawking - where you yourself gawk at the booth babes, even though you know the other 87 guys immediately standing around you are doing the same.

The games I run. . .

Seriously, I have always had the most fun in games I have run myself as there is a dearth of good GMs at CONs, so consider volunteering to run a game or three. . .

Failing that board games like Diplomacy and Car Wars rock! As does anything run by Piratecat. :D

Call of Cthulhu for certain, and I've found d20 Modern works pretty well in most one shot settings. I also love playing Kobolds Ate My Baby to finish off the day.

Board game wise, I like Puerto Rico and Diplomacy.

But Clay's "Duck, Duck, Moose" is all too real. Be afraid, be very afraid.
