Can everyone please stop saying how many music files you have on I-tunes? My hard drive crashed recently, or got jolted by a lightning bolt or something, and I lost probably close to 2,000 music files, not all I-tunes. I'm bummed and your bragging is bumming me out more. I had burned a bunch onto CDs, and didn't really give a hoot about many, but it was a devastating loss. Back up your music files!!!!! I learned the hard way. Photos too.

Sorry to hear that Loki :(

It's a major bummer when things like that happen. I have my music, pdf, movie and photo files backed up though on an external hard drive (fortunately ... also having learned the hard way some time back).

Oh yes - at present I am listening to Seamus Heaney read aloud his translation of Beowulf on my iRiver H10 (also 20gb). I won't say how many songs it holds out of respect for Loki's feelings! ;)

For some reason I almost always put just a single song in my playlist... and then I come across topics like this on forums and realise it's ended. :p I've listened a lot to Paatos the last few days though. Their album Kallocain is filled with moody alternatvie rock with both finesse and some edge... For some reason it says "Cyberpunk cyberpunk cyberpunk!" to me. I think I link it with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex somehow. :uhoh:

What? I thought a LOT of people used that service...

Studies show that very little of the music that ends up on IPods is from ITunes: http://www.digg.com/apple/iPod_fans_shunning_iTunes_store

I think the overall market "share" ITunes has (on the IPod where you would expect them to be biggest) is about 3%. This means that people prefer to buy CDs, purchase music from another service, or steal music.

From personal experience, IPod is very popular, but I don't know anyone who uses ITunes for anything but downloading TV shows they missed.

Much more popular is buying CDs, ripping internet radio streams, or purchasing from other online music stores (like ones that don't cost more than physcal media and impugn on your legal rights like Apple does).
