Do you know of any music services that do let you redownload songs? If so, what are they?

Do you know of any music services that do let you redownload songs? If so, what are they?

Not any that have major labels. But iTunes has DRM. A DRM service not only has the ability to securely retransfer legal downloads, but more of an obligation to do so. Most DRM services I have encountered allow you redownload your content. Without DRM I can determine myself how I wish to back things up and transfer them legally and without hassle. DRM inhibits my ability to do this, so they should give me the ability to redownload my content in case of data loss or change of hardware/location.

Apple's compatibility is the worst outside of Rhapsody to my knowledge. And there are services that don't have DRM. What exactly is the reason someone would use iTunes?

You said it in your first sentence.....selection. I also used Real Music, which has many different selections than iTunes. I used Rhapsody for a while because someone bought me a subscription as a gift. I've used others too. Just before my computer crashed someone referred me to a service (legal) that is based in Russia, has a decent selection, and is a heckuva lot cheaper than iTunes. I don't recall the site though.
