Definately both. I will sit down, and look over how to make a effective character mathamatically. Find out what works best and what doesn't. I'll adjust the levels I plan to take as well and the items.

Then when I am done this I work on character story and explanations. If the explanations do nto match the character, I'll re-evaluate the character slightly to both power/role are equalized.

I'm both - I can enjoy either style, but I'll pick one and conform to whatever the majority of the group is catering to, so that we all get along and work well together.

But I still inject personality into it, regardless of whether or not it's a WOOT mission (we say Woot a lot, 'cause it's fun!). We're mostly doing a WOOT through RttToEE, but I've developed two distinct looks for my characters, named their related pets/familiars, know how I care for them, know their general world views and have a shared history between them that does affect how they behave and interact with the group. They don't come up in play every week (or more), but they are there if I get the opportunity to bring them up. :D

I'm not quite sure why the 4 levels. I guess just because I would feel more paladin-ish. So I guess I'm not that munched out, but I can still whip out the can of whoop-*** when I need to :-)

VERY Ironic

Hi. I have an ironic confession to make. Seeing this post, I had every intention of voting myself proudly as "roleplayer." Then I saw the poll, thought about it, thought about my most recent character, and decided, "well, yeah, I guess I'm kind of a powergamer too..."

So I meant to vote "a little of both." Instead I accidentally voted "powergamer." So the data is technically skewed. Unless you consider such an ironic slip as a subconscious effort on the part of my id (ego?) to admit to my true self......

But I doubt it.:D

Both

I like to take a "stupid" combination of race and class and try to make it work. My current "stupid" idea is "Expert Scrollcaster"

2nd level Expert
Max skill points on Decipher Script and Use Magic Device skills
16 Int
Skill focus: Use Magic Device

He can cast any arcane or divine scroll under 3rd level, at least 50% of the time.

I've always been a little bit of both.

However, after I read "The Complete Munchkin's Guide to Powergaming" for a while I was a hardline powergamer.

My alias "Ulrick" was the name of a character from 2nd edition. I created while taking full advantage of the Player's Option Books.

Mwa-HA HA HA HA!!!

Ulrick
