What are you taking to Gen Con?

Dice Notebook and Pen obviously;)

My copy of Advanced Bestiary to see if I can get it exchanged(bad binding)

Probably a couple books like Lone Wolf or the like in hopes of getting in a Pick up game of it.

Ooh, hand sanitizer.. good idea.

I don't understand the need to carry around a DMG. That one seems odd to me. About the only reason I can think of is for the magic item prices in case you have to choose some random magic items. Which is why I'm printing out the pages of the SRD now. I can't see wagging around my DMG otherwise.

Tut tut...

So - it's not gaming related... but was just looking at the weather and see that there are "scattered showers" and "scattered T-Storms" forecast for all 4 days.

As such, QueenD suggests you bring an umbrella to keep yourself (and your books) dry. :D

If you're at one of the hotels near the convention center, that won't be necessary, since everything is connected by sky-bridge.

Other than clothes, toiletries and the like, I'm bringing very little.

  • Various things for the booth, including but not limited to the FAQ, the pick-up game binder and message box.
  • Cell phone.
  • Digital camera.
  • Money!
  • Dice, small notebook, writing implements.
  • Buttercup's famous cheese sticks for the party Wednesday night. (puff pastry with lots of cheese baked on)
  • Lots of bottled water, so I don't have to buy it. Food prices at the convention center are similar to those at a movie theater.

* Treo 650. (Cellphone, camera, video recorder, voice recorder, MP3 player, email, web browser, and a complete hyperlinked copy of the SRD.)

* Accessories for the Treo. (A charger and a Bluetooth headset.)

* Dice. (Two sets, with a few extra d10s and d6s.)

* Tiles, counters, and maps for D&D Miniatures.

* Earplugs for my roommates. (I snore. No, seriously, I snore.)

* A couple of books. (Hellblazer TPB, Thieves World, Crimson Talisman.)

Other than the essentials (clothing and toiletries), I'm traveling very light this year.

Game Books: PHB, DMG, MM, D20 Modern, maybe Grim Tales
Dice: Dice!
Other: Camera, Video Camera, Clothes, toiletries, etc.
Revision!

I decided to leave the MM and the DMG at home, and the Video Camera is enough of a pain in the ass to lug around that the Queen and I have decided not to bring it.

We bought a *new* digital camera, though - that should be fun.

I've also picked up some hand sanitizer, after recalling how well it served me last year! Nary a sniffle!

Of course, I'll be bringing a nearly-lascivious hunger for new game material (Mutants and Masterminds 2E!) and the money to pay for it.

Huzzah.

  • Specially made business cards featuring, yours truly, as CGM - Chief Game Master - no joke, these things are free, and they are great for handing out to new folks I meet. My Wall St. cards really aren't appropriate for this venue.
  • A small inflatable cushion - let me tell you how uncomfortable the standard seat gets after 24 hrs of play. . .
  • Blackberry, with lot's of .pdfs on board.
  • Mongoose's Pocket Players Guide - why bring the beast when you've got the weasel?
  • Dwarven forge silver metal dice. These puppies are hot, baby!
  • A ginormous water mug from Gencon 2002. THis beast holds a litre or so, and always keeps me hydrated.
  • Camera, iPod, and the regular list of must have gadgets and supplies.
I look forward to meeting you all there!

PLEASE! BRING AND WEAR YOUR DEODERANT/ANTIPERSPIRANT.

Everything... except the Ram! ;) We gamers need a sky bridge THERE. Then I'd never have to actually go outside the full 4 days!

I don't know if this is bad, but...I have no idea.

I will have to bring my LG characters with me, even though I am no signed up for any games, I'm hoping to find one with space free.

Along the same lines:

PHB
Dice
Pencils, erasers
Money, to buy some stuff the local stores aren't stocking

Who knows what else...maybe that's it
