Well, I like smallish axes, any straight swords, basket-hilted swords, spears, and old pistols :) Over-under pistols are tres cool. A couple knives are good. I like TWF, and daggers often show up as off-hand weapons.

EDIT: And sticks. Just...sticks. Staves, warclubs, jo sticks, I don't care.

Q-staff is very cool I've always wanted to play a lightly armoured staff user.

My nickname might give you a hint about a two-handed weapon choice...

Glaive would be my favorite polearm, with spear a close second.

Dual short swords would be my favorite light weapon.

Dwarven Waraxe would be my favorite one handed weapon, with bastard sword a second place.

The composite longbow rules all other ranged weapons. Though the heavy crossbow has a nice flavor.

Glaive - with Kicking attacks if I can swindle it out of the DM.

I think that a glaive using fighter with unarmed "martial arts" skills would be very cool. Maybe using Hong's Martial Artist...

My current favourites? warhammer, falchion*, punching dagger, broadsword**

My top most favorite is someting I call "segmented sword", it is a flexible sections of interlocking blades with cord running throught the core. By shortening the cord the blades is stiffen, but it can also be used in manner similar to a whip, when not in use it can be cared as bandolier or belt. If you know a proper name for this please post it for me.

Ah hang on a sec, that sounds like something I saw on a PS2 (or it might have been Xbox) game, last year I think. I'm pretty sure it was a scantily-dressed woman wielding trhe weapon. (Surprised?)

Maybe it would've been a broadsword** / spiked chain. . . (?)

* I house rule falchions to be a bit more of an attractive option, as I found that players tended to sidestep them, previously.
** My own variant sword, though not an original name, obviously! :)

Both Soul Caliber II (the scantily clad woman) and Brotherhood of the Wolf (crazy nobleman) feature segmented swords. Yeah, they're not terribly plausible, but they're awesome.

Demiurge out.
