What are your favorite weapons?

Throwing dagger. Every character I play uses a throwing dagger as one of its weapons.

Also like the bastard sword.

As a PC, Maul, Rapier, and Repeating Crossbow.
Something about the repeating crossbow just says "Gnome of Death".

As an NPC, cabers. Cabers which double as greatclubs.
Where's your deflect arrows now, monk boy?

I'm with Billy, substituting "Kris" and "Kukri", respectively. I was so, so excited when I found the section in Oriental Adventures giving alternate names for standard D&D weapons. I know that my Kris is mechanically identical to a shortsword. But now it sounds so much cooler.

Nifty! The ONE THING I'd use from the Oriental Adventures!

I don't really have a favorite weapon. I tend to use bastard swords more than other weapons.

However, I do like the quarterstaff. I feel it should be cooler, though.

And I'm itching to try out the spiked chain.

I tend to play Elfs, Half-Elfs, Elfs, Elfs, Half Elfs and Elfs So depending on the class they always have some sort of bow (normally long) and either a small or long sword. But again, this depends alot on class

A weapon I always wanted to use was a Xaen, a heavy, barbed quarterstaff from Carceri in Planescape 2e.

Runners up: Great Sickle, Macuahutl (aztec wooden sword with obsidian edges,) Broadsword, and Warclub.

One of my favorite character archetypes is the fighter/paladin/knight errant. With that in mind, if D&D had a pollaxe in it, that would be my favorite weapon (a knight on horseback just -- isn't -- unless he has a lance, but while in foot the pollaxe is the weapon of choice). I'm sure there's a 3rd party product out there that has stats for this, but since my current paladin was converted when 3e first came out, I settled on the pedestrian halberd (close enough, though a pollaxe should have all 3 attack forms in one...a mean effective weapon).

That being said, I'm currently running an elven mage, and in our last throw-down, he managed to get one spell off (ubiquitous Magic Missile...the battle was in a bar so there were too many innocents and friendlies around; no crowd-pleasers) before the press, so instead took to his longsword. With mage armor and high dex he wasn't touched, and actually dealt out some melee damage (he's only 2nd level though, so he can still do this sort of thing...).

I wasn't pleased with how the spear converted (you must use it two-handed, ruling out hoplite style fighters with 8ft spears), or falchions (good stats perhaps, but why is it 2 handed???)
