D&D 5E What campaign is next?

I'm expecting something new, maybe following DS something further against the use everything thread running through 4e. I'd expect a classic setting like Dragonlance in 2012.

For previously published settings, I'd expect probably variations on Hollow World or Oriental Adventures; all of the other settings don't really stray too far from what's been already published, except for Ravenloft, which has a boardgame coming out, and they just published the standalone superadventure at the end of 3.5's run, which indicates that they seem to be steering it back from Horror campaign setting and back to it's roots. Granted, it's entirely possible that they've cooked up some completely fresh campaign setting that veers away from everything to date; only August will tell.

I would dearly love to see Mystara. With WotC going old school with the Red Box and the soft cover essentials line, it would make sense to bring back an old feel with Mystara. Having said that, I agree with other posters that it may not be different enough from established worlds already produced.

In principle it could be something completely unexpected, such as a Marvel Super Heroes rpg.

Other stuff from TSR's back catalog:

- Star Frontiers
- Boot Hill
- Top Secret
- Gangbusters
- Alternity

It's the new wager of choice for ENWorld. :) Warning - you, too, may be stuck with a Twilight avatar for a month.

Which is a big reason I would never take a bet like that :)

I think it's going to be something non-fantasy. Marvel Superheroes type game perhaps? Boothill and Top Secret are possible too, with something like "Die Hard" type fluff for healing surges.

I'm telling you, it's Azeroth...

I think this depends on the success of Gamma World... If Gamma World does well we'll probably see other Gamma World type games pop up from the other non-D&D rpgs TSR had in the past.

I don't think their planning to do any other full on RPGs though.

With all the clammering for a "new" system I think it'll be between that, and Dragonlance (since people were favoring either DL or DS.)
