What can you legally use from WOTC?

This is a retarded question I think:

But I am alloud to publish things that include the words Bluff, Disable Device, Climb, and skill names in my own stuff?

And I can describe uses for these skills, right?

I hope they don't limit you that much...

Do you understand the words that are coming out of our mouth?

Is it in the SRD? If so, then yes. If not, then no. In the case of Bluff, Disable Device, and Climb, they're in the SRD.

As mentioned before - you can use what's in the SRD. Rather than people asking along list of questions "Can I use this?" it's much easier to just look at the SRD to see what you can use. The SRD was linked to in on of the posts above.

You can use these, because they're in the SRD. Of course, you could also use them if you were making your own game - the words are public domain.

i DID look in the srd and nowhere did it say i oculd use the mm2 as a coaster.....what is my best legal move if they sue?

Agree not to sell it? Do whatever the rabid lawyers say?

Honestly, they're extremely unlikely to care.

A different spin on the question

I understand the SRD vs WOTC books stuff.

But, could I create a creature that was mechanically identical to the hook horror, but with a new name and any non-SRD special abilities also renamed?

By the same token, could I not also do the same with any spell, feat, PClass, whatever from any of the WOTC stuff.

I understand that it would be very uncool to rip-off their books in mass. But I do want to understand the legal allowance.
