What changes were made from 3E to 3.5 ?

All thinking creatures get 1 feat at first HD and at every HD divisible by 3, no more wierd individual formulae for different creature types.

No more beasts, they are now animals.

Shapechanger is a subtype, not a type.

Lycanthropes changed significantly, no longer have overlapping form stats but now stackable animal and humanoid HD.

Constructs get bonus hp based on size, oozes don't.

LA included in monster listings. Some changed (duergar are +1 instead of +2, etc.).

Humanoid base statblocks are for NPC stat arrays, not base 10/11s.

grapple/BAB included in monster stat blocks

XP awards modified slightly so lower level characters advance quicker than higher level ones from the same party.

Stat boosting items and a few others changed in price.

Staves allow user's stats for caster level and DC.

The biggest changes for me with 3.0 to 3.5 were:

Darkness Spell became “shadowy illumination” instead of darkness. In 3e, the Darkness spell was a 50% miss chance (?) and then in 3.5 it became 20%.

So basically in complete natural darkness (still a 50% miss chance) you could cast the Darkness spell to increase your chance of hitting.

Uuuhhm?!!!?? What?!

And the next was the whole Paladin mount summoning ability….. I never even played a Paladin but this one just pissed me off…

“I choose you Warhorsychu!”

While less bothersome (to me anyway) was the complete removal of the Partial Action.

4. Base size ie large = 10 ft base

Before, you could have creatures with non-square bases.

Also, cover/concealment was a table that relied on the DM interpreting the situation. Under 3.5, you trace grids on a battlemat.

In 3.0 when you struck at a creature with cover you had a chance to hit the cover. In 3.5 you don't.

Sorcerers got the ability to swap at spells at even levels in 3.5.

Huh. There's some stuff here I'd never noticed, or perhaps read once and rejected as "for tournament play". Like the changes to cover, darkness, and facing.

Also, the Command spell was neutered, which I hate. I got more mileage out of that spell than any other when I played Dragon Mountain.

Shapechange also got nerfed: they added a HD limit.

Some new monsters: the Inevitables.

Big changes to monk unarmed damage progression.

The Animal Friendship spell is gone, and folded into Animal Companion.

Pick Pocket skill is gone, folded into Sleight of Hand.
