Mahasamatman but you could drop the Maha and the atman and just call me Sam, Binder of Demons, Lord of Lite, the Buddha!

Have to ask why? Body transfers, man vs heaven, powers of the gods, the god death. This is one of the best books ever written by Zelazny.

Next would be Karl Edward Wagners Kane, wonderful anti-hero, dangerous, immortal.

Flinx by Alan Dean Foster, hey can't go wroung with a wing snake called Pip!

John Carter of Mars!

Dang it I forgot about nakor and his never ending bag of fruit.

The best part is that the other end of the bag opened up into some poor fruit vendor's stall who could never figure out how his oranges vanished far faster than he sold them...

FitzChivalry from Hobb's Assassin series (or Tawny Man for that matter)...

... oh wait, playing a character based thereon IMC as we speak.

:)

So many good ones have been mentioned, but I am going with Oberon from the Chronicles of Amber. He was awesome, he made most of his kids look like dolts.

Elric of Melnibone. Just such a tortured character sometimes, I think he'd be a blast to roleplay!

One of my players based an elf off of Legolas(he just got done rereading LotR for like the 8th time), so I can guess what his answer would be.

Miles Vorkosigan. The man who managed to gain control of his own space navy in a war zone while on vacation in another star system, by virtue of being smart. (I love the little runt.)

And who doesn't want to be Vader?

I think it would be particularly cool to play Goliath from the Gargoyles cartoon. Not only do you get to run around fighting faerie lords and killer cyborgs and Egyptian death god cyborgs (long story), but you get one of the coolest voices in history.

That's all for now...
