I've used all sorts. And I've yet to find one that suits me perfectly. Right now I'm looking for one for my husband, that doesn't have such small print. He has low vision, and can't really see the skills section of most character sheets. The character tome listed in this thread looks to me like it might work for him, so I thank you for posting the link!

If anyone else knows of a larger print character sheet, I'd appreciate a link.

I use my own homemade sheet, which includes everything but spells, and fits on page of A4 paper. it is downloadable from the "Tholestia" link in my sig. Note though that it looks very business like.

I use the Mad Irishman's for the character sheet. It's 4 pages, or two pages front and back, as you prefer.

Mad Irish doesn't have a good spell list though. I find that Ema's character sheets aren't to my taste, but his Spell Sheets are absolutely fantastic. I use them for any character with spellcasting.

Inventory, Quest Notes, etc. would never fit on any one character sheet anyway, so there's always notebook paper clipped to everything.

I use Steve Muchow's sheet, which I found here: http://www.3rdedition.org/resources/category.asp?catid=2

It's 7 pages, but 2 of those are for spells and one is for animal companions, so there are 4 core pages (1 for class/lvl/stats, 1 for combat related info, 1 for equipment, and 1 for skills)
I've used several different sheets over the past couple years, but found that this one makes it easiest for me to keep everything straight and easily accessable. The other players in my group think I'm crazy for having such a long sheet, but it works for me.

Hero Forge

Nearly all of my group uses Hero Forge from Shannon Greene. It's an excel based program for creating a character. It has seperate 'character' sheets for mounts and familiars. Shannon is also constantly updating the file to include new information and fix any bugs.

It is the best thing I have found for updating and printing character sheets.

It can be found here.

I've always used homemade character sheets -- everything from pieces of scrap paper to painstakingly laid-out printouts. These days, I almost always go with a simple MS Word sheet, with everything where it makes the most sense to me (which changes from character to character). I love tweaking a sheet until it's perfect.

I'll share a secret, too -- one that I'm always surprised how few people know about. For things that change often during the course of a game, put a piece of satin/matte-finished clear tape (Scotch tape) next to the item -- like so:

HP: [tape goes here]
XP: [tape goes here]

...then write the numbers in pencil over the tape. This way you don't wear a hole through the sheet by erasing in one spot so often -- and #2 pencil comes off that kind of clear tape without leaving any residue or discoloration behind. It can't be the glossy clear tape, though -- only the matte kind.

This has worked so well for so long that I can't imagine doing it any other way.

And yes, I'm a giant dork. Enjoy. :D
