What classes will be in the martial power book?

My speculation is that the classes will be the barbarian

I think the Barbarian will be the Primal Defender in the PHB II.

I suspect these will come with a Ki power source in the future.

Yeah, they have hinted at a 4th Ed OA.

But many people seem to be vehemently opposed to Ki being its own power source.

Necromancer
Assassin

And maybe a half decent Hexblade for the Shadow Defender…?

So far I'm thinking:


-Shadow Controller = Illusionist

-Shadow Defender = Hexblade

-Shadow Leader = Necromancer

-Shadow Striker = Assassin

I could see a monk as a Martial controller that does stuff like this:

WotC has stated that the monk will most likely be a Striker, whether it will have the martial, psionic or this speculated Ki power source, I have no idea.

Yes, but it's been implied that each PHB will present new classes with new power sources. Thus, new classes based on existing power sources would--or so it seems to be--be found in power source-specific splatbooks.

Yes, but if you look carefully at the cover of PHB1, it says something about rules for "martial, arcane, and divine characters." (Or at least the original cover did; dunno if the new one will.)

Then that would tie in with my other theory/speculation, that the bard will be the Primal Leader in the PHB II, and maybe take it back to some of its 1st Ed Celtic roots (I could see them being close to Fey etc).

You know, I had a similar thought. And it's certainly one possible interpretation of the text. But something about the way it's phrased--nothing specific, just an overall feel--implies a different power source to me.

But I've been wrong before. On occasion.
