I'd pay money to see some poor sod try and salvage the epic level handbook, buggered if I can think of enough house rules to keep bunging up the holes.

It's not 3.5E per se put what looks the most interesting for me is The Malhavoc Handbook (Arcana Unearthed) by Monte Cook. I won't be using the new races but the new classes looks very interesting. The new magic system seem to be a fix to my many gripes about the current one. Monte Cook promises that castle sieges will be possible with it. I.e. no low level spells will be able to topple castle walls. I guess it means that Teleport and such will be fixed as well.

Exactly. And the DMG's extra pages sound like a lot of reorganization, clarification and addition of material we've already seen elsewhere.

Of course, I'll be getting all three, but I don't expect a whole lot of change from the DMG or MM compared to the PHB.
Well, what can I do but say it again... Wouldn't count on it. ;)

P.S. This is not a cryptic hint of any kind.

Just the 3 core books.

Since I seldom play or DM using more than the 3 core books, these are the ones I'm most looking forward to. I've found that I just don't need anything else.

Only the monster manual. I HATE the layout in the original MM, so saying they were redoing it was an instant sale for me. Plus I like the new DR rules. I'll be going over the SRD carefully before I go for the others, however. The Mystic Theurge debates have gotten me guarded. To echo SKR, if we have do see the whole 3.5e ruleset to judge the balance of the MTh, exactly how much have you changed? I thought the wizard and cleric were unchanged? Maybe its not as compatible as they've been saying.

The only one that came close was the Book of Exalted Deeds, but I already have the Book of Hallowed Might to fill that role. My love of Monte know no limit.
