What D&D scenario would make the best D&D movie?

In the case of DragonLance, it's sort of arbitrary to call a dividing line between the module series and the novels.

Drizz't is all about novels. Dragons of Autumn Twilight is essentially DL1 and DL2 in novel form. While subsequent DL novels depart off the modules quite a bit - the first novel is pretty much a blow by blow (Vermi's death notwithstanding).

More people have been exposed to the Novels then have even heard that there is a module for it. There are people who, if you based it on the modules with different characters, who would downright riot.

As such I don't consider the modules. As it the books people would want it based on, Not the modules.

Also I ran a DL campaign for years, but would never consider running those modules. Just as I wouldn't want to run the Pool of Radiance(Either version) or Temple of Elemental Evil anymore.

Well, I was thingking that the dungeon crawl modules would make terrible movies (and have made for sad books at that too):

I think the main thing to look for is a strong storyline in the module, or a module that's easy to build a storyline around. Remember, the screen writer can take as many liberties as possible to make the plot interesting. Even if they decide to stick to the adventure as written, the main characters can take the most interesting (and least boring) path. That doesn't preclude a dungeon crawl, IMO.

Now, I don't know about the best module for a movie, right now. However, I'll vote the GDQ series as best series for a TV series.

Have the first episode or two deal with setting up the background of the adventuring party. Have Giant attacks mentioned in the background, with the party eventually moving. They work their way through the giant lairs, find out the mysterious race behind the attacks, and decend into the depths of the earth to find out what's going on.

Action: Against the Giants - packed with action and unmeasurable odds

Horror: Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - nothing says horror like this adventure.

Comedy: Army of Darkness...already been done! White Plume Mountain, in that vain.

Drama: Not sure, maybe the Assassin's Knot - going for something lower level with mystery, intrigue, and tons of character development.
