What d20 product/supplement/add-on/article has best mana base magic system?

Chain Lightning

First Post
My group loves D&D. Except for one thing. The memorizing of spells. If they could, they keep it all and re-do just spell casting. I think they want to use some sort of mana point based system. Or something like it.

How viable would it be to find such a d20 version of this and incorporate it along side the other core D&D classes in the Player's Handbook?

And what product or article has the most balanced and fun to play version of a mana based style caster?

How about for Divine magic? What alternatives there?

If you can point me in some general directions, I'd be most grateful. Thanks.

The psionics handbook. ;)

Most other books that attempt this botch it and end up being very unbalanced. AEG's Magic has a decent adaptation of it to the spellcasting classes.

You could also check out the D&D-compatible EverQuest Role-Playing Game. The Al'Kabor's Arcana book, which just came out for that game, has a chapter of SRD spells converted to EQ's mana-point spell system, along with directions to convert more standard spells as well.

They call them "Earth Power" points, but Slaine gets my vote.

But it does produce a different feel of magic from DnD.

I've read that midnight uses a mana-like system. But since Midnight is a low-magic setting, I don't know how it works for general D&D (and since I don't have the Midnight Campaign Setting yet, I can't tell you how it works for Midnight).

I suggest the psionic handbook, too. :)
You could substitute the various manifestations with appropriate components, and the final effect would be pretty much indistinguishable from spellcasting.
