One of the books from my City of Greyhawk boxed set was chewed on by a kitten. Little tooth-holes in the cover, mostly. In retrospect, it's kind of funny, but I was about 11 at the time, and I was pretty angry.
Cmon, it's battle damage!

Demiurge out.

My PHB has seen better days. It's binding is almost gone. My Hero Builder's Guidebook is gonna fall apart sometime soon anyways.
I'm not really too concerned. I haven't really used either book in a few weeks.

Cheers!

I've got about 10 running feet of bookshelf space devoted to d20 stuff, and the only thing that is not in pristine condition is my spare copy of the PHB, which was damaged by one of my players when it was on loan to her.

But then, I'm fanatical about taking good care of my books.

Me too, my players response to anyone who asks to borrow my books is "Come on, you know how anal he is about his books! He'll never let you keep it until the next game". Which is generally true. I'm still looking for my 1e stuff that is still on loan to someone since like 1993. If only I had that Locate Object spell...

Plus, I try to encourage players to buy their own books... :)

I have younger siblings (when I started the game, my sister was 8.) So some of my older books are just about deceased (Plus, having to lug them around in a backpack every week (my fanatical co GM insists on me bringing every book.) doesn't help their condition- though now I'm making excuses...). My Hero Builder's Guide is missing a cover, and the pages are bent and ripped. But it's a soft-cover so that's expected.

As far as my Hardcover books go, it's a pretty cut-throat competition among some. My Monster manual, which on the outside appears to be in the best condition of the three core rulebooks, actually has one page that's been ripped and the entire contents of the book have spilled out and have had to be taped back in.

My Player's Handbook and DMG are both in fairly bad shape. The PHB says "Player's Handboo-" on the spine, and the DMG's spine is nekked. My PHB has my sister's name written along the pages opposite the spine (if that makes sense) in marker. Of course, like every other older brother I simply made it worse by writing "sucks" after it, but still...

Both books are also suffering from being pretty dinged up along the edges as well, and the PHB has had a page torn, and I can't find the rest of it. But I didn't really NEED Hallucinatory Terrain....

As far as non corebooks go, just about everything is somewhat dinged at the edges unfortunately, but none can match the disrepair of the three, the proud, the "oh who cares I'm replacing them with 3.5 sooner or later anyway"!

H4W H4W!!!1! Moe Ronalds' books have C00T1ES!!!11!!

My 2e players handbook saw a lot of action in it's day, the cardbord on the spine was scotchtapped back on the pages were starting to seperate from the binding a little and the cover was all stcatched up and very faded. It was the non-glossy older version.

My 3e PHB is probably second, the bindiing let go on the front cover so it really opens wide now.
