What do you do after an RPG session?

Our group normally plays from noon-6PM every other Saturday. Usually some of us stick around after and play card or board games (Settlers, Game of Thrones, Grave Robbers From Outer Space, etc) until 10PM.

My dilema is that our group of seven will be growing to eight and now I need to find some games that will support eight if everyone decides to stay. The game should be playable within 3 or 4 hours.

Other ideas I've had include dividing the group in half and playing 2 different games or declaring a movie night.

Please share your ideas!

Lots of us just watch movies, or somthing like that. I would suggest finding out what kinda movies they all like, and kick back with some snack for a while and let the tention drain.

Leave the money on the nightstand....:p

Actually it dpends, for the late night game I usually just go home. For the afternoon games we some times sit around and chat or play video games or something,

Like Crothian we usually call it a night if the game goes late and head home due to family obligations and responsibilities. If it is an afternoon session (a rarity) we play up to 6 hours and then follow it up with pizza and then go our seperate ways.

I've mostly always played at night.

When I was younger and we played til 3 or 4 a.m., the sessions were usually followed by breakfast at Denny's or some other similar all-night diner.

These days, it's over by 11 p.m., and I head home to bed.... How the mighty have fallen. :\

If I was running or playing a game that ended at 6, I'd think dinner would be fun. Chance for everybody to decompress, have a little out of game sociability and chat. Maybe a good beer and pretzels game to go with it.

OOOOOOHHHHHHhhhh, There's this game i heard of that can play as many people as you want!!! It's called D&D or somthing.

Except they just played that game for 6 hrs.

"ZOMBIES!!!" is a great board game that can be played in under 4 hrs., easily. "Carcassonne" is another fantastic boardgame; it's won all kinds of awards in the past few years. There's also a board game called "Puerto Rico" that's fun if you dig raising a merchant empire!

Finally: movies rock.

Me, after game sessions, I retreat to my workbench in the basement, have a smoke, and go over the notes for the next game session while this one is still fresh in my mind.

We used to break out some of our Avalon Hill games. Circus Maximus was good fun, quick, and up to 8 people could play at a time. Gladiator was fun, too. Couldn't do 8 at a time, but the games could go by so quick, you could do multiple matches in an hour. Titan was good, too, at first. Then we figured out how to play defensively, and a single game could go on for hours.

In college, we'd do road-trip game days where the old group would get together (some were at USF, some at UF, and one at UCF). It was always a pain getting everyone to agree on a game. So we'd play rounds of Uno in between games -- the winner of the round got to decide what we'd play next. (I remember one time when one of the guys had been whining he wanted to play Dune all weekend. He finally won the last round of Uno and picked 'Dune' for the final game. I won in the first turn  )
