Hmm...there is already a standing tradition of welcoming people to the boards when they first post...expanding it with the gift of XP would probably reinforce ENWorld's rep as a friendly place.

Of course, if you want to reward that person again before the XP system's "repeat limit" has been met, you might be miffed.

Getting told I have to spread XP around before giving this person more XP has just made me go looking for more low-level posters to reward

I trawl threads that capture my interest looking for low level posters I can give XP. Sometimes I just comment "Random XP for you" or similar hehe!

Edit: On the forums I run I always give "XP" to anyone that posts and has zero karma. Actually I need a plugin to automate that!
