I like the 4 rank system. It can easily work for all real languages as well as the fantasy ones. Think about how long it takes to learn elven. they age slower so they spend more time on it. The number system is different too.
The more ranke you put into it the more things become complicated. For instance a child picks up languages easier than an older person.
