What do you think Paladins will get as per day abilities?

So we have seen previews of a 9th level rogue's per day ability (crimson edge.) Wizards get stuff like sleep (a 1st level per day'er)

So, what kind of stuff do you think paladins will get as a per day ability? From what i gather smites will be per encounter. So what kind of things would fit a per day slot for a divine defender? More powerful versions of smite? Healing auras?

What about the abiliyt to become an avatar of your deity for a brief period eh? So a paladin of bahamut calls upon bahamut and gets DR 20/-; +10 attack, +10 damage, etc.

Thoughts? :D

At first level, probably a basic protection spell/blessing: +2 to all defences to one ally for one encounter.

At higher levels, the ability could affect more allies, or provide additional effects, either defensive, e.g. temporary hit points or damage reduction, or offensive, e.g. opponents who strike warded creatures take damage, a penalty on attacks (save ends) or are blinded (save ends).

Speaking of per-day powers, if the wizard does get sleep as a 1/day thing, I wonder if that's going to become the big bugbear of 4E. Because if there's one thing I've learned, it's that people hate being shut down. Stabbed, fine. Chopped and diced, fine. Killed, fine. Put to sleep, held, disarmed, or otherwise rendered alive-but-impotent? No way.

I don't think it will be an issue if the character is allowed a saving throw each round to shake off the sleep/hold/etc....

I hope ALL paladin abilities that provide benficial effects can affect him, whether they affect allies or not. Nothing is more annoying when you can give a ton of beneifits to your allies, but for some strange reason can't do it to yourself to save your life.

I guess warlord will be the one stuck with those abilities.
